The 2014 WildView Taiwan Film Festival's September screenings have begun at the Planning Office of Shoushan National Nature Park (SNNP), Kaohsiung. Commencing at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 6, this whole-new lineup of documentary films (including 「How Earth Made Us - Human Planet,」 「Frozen Planet: To the Ends of the Earth,」 「Lost Land of the Volcano」 and 「South Pacific: Fragile Paradise」) presents ecosystems from all over the world, from secluded rainforests to unforgiving polar regions, and show how human activities are changing the planet. During the introduction and post-screening discussions, the impact of human activity on our planet will be further addressed. Don't miss out on these captivating cinematic experiences!
As part of this program, the SNNP Planning Office has invited Dr. Jeng Ming-shiou from the Academia Sinica to speak on 「A Win-Win Strategy for Seafood Banks and Coral Reef Conservation」 at 2:40 p.m., Saturday, September 20. Dr. Jeng, one of Taiwan's leading researchers of coral reef ecosystems, has spent much time studying marine habitats both near to Taiwan and beyond. With Taiwan's coastal marine resources drastically depleted due to overfishing and habitat destruction, Dr. Jeng will address potential win-win solutions to the conflict between Taiwan's seafood heritage and coral reef conservation.
Every Saturday from August 2 to December 27 the WildView Taiwan Film Festival presents an intriguing, full-day eco-film screening program (updated monthly) featuring Wildscreen Film Festival (a.k.a. 「the Green Oscars」) winners or nominees, plus post-screening discussions and quizzes with special giveaways!
Time: Full-day screenings on Saturdays from August 2 through December 27, 2014.
